For the last couple of months, the Chicago suburbs have been invaded by cicadas.
We live in LaGrange, and it was amazing to see how badly the burbs had the cicada infestation, whereas the city had none.
The cicadas did not freak me out at all but for my wife, Sarah, that was a different story. And the more Sarah freaked out with the cicadas, the more it seemed that they were attracted to her.
Almost daily Sarah would walk around with a few cicadas stuck to her clothes.
Or we would be at one of Finn’s soccer games and having cicadas flying to her mouth while she was talking.
Or they would be flying around and just fly into her.
Each and every time any of these situations happened, Sarah had the same response.
She would jump up, begin swatting at her body and clothes, and run around screaming.
It was very predictable and involuntary. She could not help it.
Dentistry is also one of those things that will cause people to react in a nervous way. Usually, the reaction is involuntary.
Many patients will have a physical reaction whenever they are having dental work. Most of these people have had some kind of dental traumatic event when they were kids.
This fear of the dentist has stuck with them and that makes it difficult for them to get through a dental appointment.
It is estimated that between 30 to 50 percent of all Americans avoid the dentist due to fear.
At Dente, we recognize this is a huge part of the population and it is why we offer Anxiety Free Dentistry.
We offer a range of Anxiety reducing options that help the patient get through their dental appointment STRESS FREE.
