Mi época en el instituto

I’ve become very nostalgic since I had my heart attack.

A few weeks ago, we were up in Wilmette, at the Wayfair showroom at the Edens Plaza. We were buying patio furniture for our house. I let Finn know that almost 40 years ago, I used to sell women’s shoes at that location.

The current Wayfair location used to be Carson Pirie Scott back in the day. The manager at that location was one of the best managers I ever had. He was a good guy and held our group to a high standard.

We were one of the best performing locations in the country and I believe it was because of Charles. I told Finn about that story.

Then after visiting Wayfair, we went over to Sarkis Café in Evanston. This was a regular place that we went to as high school students.

I told him how the owner of the place never used his cash register and made everyone pay in cash.

He calculated your meal in his head and always errored in his favor. You always paid more than the meal actually cost. Sarkis would say, “Because you’re my friend, just pay me $10.”

You would think he was giving you a break because he liked you, but when you got to the car and calculated all the items, you would figure out that the meal actually cost $8.

Getting screwed over by Sarkis was part of the experience and part of the fun. I know that sounds weird.

Finn actually had a great time doing all these things with me. When I was explaining why these places were special to me, it made the experience better for him.

Going back to visit places from my youth, after a life-threatening event, puts things into perspective. It makes things sweeter and helps you appreciate it more.

Traumatic events alter how we see things. These things can be positive, or they can be negative.

For many people, a traumatic dental appointment can alter the way they feel about every dental appointment after that.

This could make every dental appointment stressful and cause a lot of anxiety. Many patients will avoid the dentist because of this fear.

At Dente, we recognize that a large percentage of the American population avoid the dentist due to fear. That is why we offer Anxiety Free Dentistry.

Patients are given anxiety reducing medication that will help them have an stress-free dental appointment. Because these patients are relaxed, getting them numb is easier and more effective.

What that means to them is that they have a pain free dental appointment.

If you are avoiding the dentist because of fear, know that all our dental consultations are conducted in a compassionate and a non-judgmental way.

If you would like to schedule an Anxiety Free Dental appointment, please visit us at mydente.com or call 773-292-1911.
