Caos del paintball

My son, Finn, turned 12 years old last month in May. He’s always looked forward to his birthdays and has always been the main orchestrator of his parties.

My wife, Sarah, always ask, “Finn, where do you want to have your birthday this year?” Then Finn will tell her the theme for the birthday that he wants to do. This year, Finn asked for a paintball party.

Sarah went to work and found a paintball facility in Lockport. This facility was a 66 acre property with many different obstacle courses.

The boys were placed in teams and were given protective gear. Each team was placed on different sections of the obstacle course.

They were instructed to aim and hit the opposing teams with paintballs. Once you were hit with the paintball, you were out. The team with remaining players that were not hit, won.

It was painful to get hit by these paintballs and all of the kids left with bruises and welts. To me, pain is not fun. Any activity that causes me pain, I try to avoid.

I was shocked to hear from the boys that they loved it and wanted to return again this summer.

Sometimes, you think you won’t like a certain thing, but once you try it, you love it. Alternatively, you may think you will love something and when you try it, you find that it’s not really your cup of tea.

The same can be said of teeth. We may see a smile that we really like on someone else, and think, "That is exactly how I want my smile to look."

But in reality, that person’s smile doesn’t fit your face. The teeth may be too big or your lips may cover your teeth when you smile.

That is why we do smile consultations and place a prototype in your mouth. You can see how it looks in your mouth, how your lips curve when you smile, and how you feel when you have these new teeth.

This also gives you a chance to make adjustments that you want, before we ever do any work on your actual teeth.
