It has been said that 80% of the time that you spend with your kids is from the time that they’re born to when they turn 18 years old.That statistic is in the back of my head all the time. I use every opportunity to hang out with Finn.I’m that dad that attends, not just all of his games, but also attends most of his practices.A lot of the coaches felt uncomfortable at first, because they think I’m there to critique their coaching.Not at all. In fact, if Finn gets chewed out by a coach and he later complains to me about it, I’ll defend the coach 99% of the time.He loves it when I go and then give him an assessment of his play.'

Another thing we enjoy together is when Finn and I watch his kid movies. Most of the time I’m not paying attention but sometimes he picks a good one that is watchable to an adult.

All of the stuff that we do together is the things that he wants to do. Whenever I recommend a movie or want to watch a game on tv, Finn is totally disinterested.

It will usually go like this. He’ll be watching the program for about 5 minutes then say, “I’m bored.” And then he’ll walk out.

Now, within the last 6 months, the movies that I like are the same movies that Finn likes.

The other day we watched Top Gun. A movie that I watched when I was a kid. He really liked it and now has begun to let me pick movies.

But it's not just movies, it's everything.
